The South Carolina Gamecocks kept their perfect start to the season intact with a series sweep over Penn State this past weekend. The Gamecocks won the first two games of the series on Friday and Saturday, before completing the sweep with a thrilling 8-7 win on Sunday.

Friday’s Game

The Gamecocks got off to a strong start on Friday, as they jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. They scored three runs in the first inning and added three more in the fourth, en route to a 6-2 victory.

Saturday’s Game

Saturday’s game was a much closer affair, as the Gamecocks and Nittany Lions traded the lead back and forth throughout the game. The Gamecocks were able to pull away late, thanks to a four-run eighth inning, to take the game 8-5.

Sunday’s Game

The Gamecocks and Nittany Lions were locked in a tight battle on Sunday, as the game was tied at seven heading into the bottom of the ninth. The Gamecocks were able to break the tie with a two-run home run by freshman outfielder Noah Campbell, giving them the 8-7 win and the series sweep.
